2022-23 NJHL PLAYOFF RULES

FORMAT:

Top 8 teams advance to the playoffs in a best of 3 series.

Possible outcomes:

Team A wins first game & second game - Team A wins series - no 3rd game required

If teams are tied in points after 2 games – One team must win 3rd game to advance

If teams are tied in points at the end of game 3 – the following is the format to determine a winner:

A 3 on 3 5 minute sudden death overtime, if still tied.

A 5 man shootout (5 different players), it still tied.

1 player shootout, rotating until winner.

Please note:

Teams will be reseeded after each round, so that the highest seed plays the lowest seed throughout the playoffs.
