Our Story

The Noralta Junior Hockey League is a not for profit hockey organization, first formed in Edmonton in 1992 with the expressed purpose of providing young hockey players with the opportunity to play organized competitive hockey in a safe and positive environment.
The NJHL provides organized recreational Junior hockey with a competitive spirit that promotes sportsmanship, in the greater Edmonton area. The NJHL extends the competitive career of many young athletes who would other-wise be forced to play in non-contact senior leagues after graduating from midget.
The league has grown from 2 to 13 teams in the past 28 years and has seen major growth as an organization. The competitive level and parity of the teams has been increasing year after year. Noralta teams have won Junior C provincials 12 years in a row.
The league has come a long way since its reputation as the “Jungle". We have seen many skilled players come and go, mature into young men and go onto bigger and better things in their lives. We have also seen our alumni go into coaching and volunteer around the league and community to give back. We thank the past and present volunteers as well as supporting organizations and associations who selflessly sacrifice their time for these young men
